Police Academy Course Registration

Title: Methods of Instruction (6-Day Class)

When: May 12, 2026 - May 19, 2026 

Time: 8:00AM to 4:00 PM

This New Jersey Police Training Commission approved course is designed for Officers who plan to teach at Police Academies and/or their respective Agencies. Topics include: selecting appropriate teaching methods, establishing goals and performance objectives and constructing lesson plans. An overview of the principles of learning, classroom management and the selection and use of training aids will also be discussed. In addition, students will learn to formulate questions and to evaluate progress. Each student is required to plan and present to the class two lessons on Police Related Topics:

One 15 Minute Presentation

One 30 Minute Presentation with required use of Training Aids

The student, instructors and class members will evaluate the presentations. This is a Police Training Commission certified course and only those that are serious about instructing should attend.  Business attire will be the uniform dress code – no exceptions. 

Prerequisite: At a minimum, an attendee must have three (3) years experience. Attendees are required to submit a resume prior to attending this course.
