ThIs program is tailored to the beginning police officer/rider. The course is structured to develop the necessary skill competency and confidence level in the student police officer/rider in order to successfully handle both every day and high-risk encounters, both tactically and in motor vehicle operations. The course is 80 hours/two weeks (Monday-Friday) in duration.
Student/officers are preceptored through progressive skill and driving maneuver scenarios with testing at each level. Both low and highway speed skills are practiced to course criteria competency. Tactical policing skills, pre-shift motorcycle inspection, and escort driving are also part of this program. Students shall possess a valid motorcycle license endorsement.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Clear eye protection, ANSI or DOT approved helmet, gloves, over-ankle boots (no sneakers), rain gear.
